It seems that little by little environmental awareness is increasing in our society, as well as the sense of individual responsibility. There is still time for this to happen among companies in the textile sector, although there are already many brands making great efforts in this regard.
In this post we are going to review what we as consumers can do to improve our purchasing habits and thus contribute to reducing the impact of the textile industry on the environment, and thus be able to continue enjoying fashion without detrimental to our planet. Write down these tips!
1. Consume less, do not buy more than you need
The passage from 4 seasons to 52 has been a tragedy for the environment that has favored an absolutely unsustainable fast fashion. Nothing more responsible than conscious consumption, buying only what you need and not falling into irrational and excessive consumption of clothing. Also, your finances will appreciate it.
2. Buy vintage and second-hand clothes.
We never tire of repeating it: the most sustainable garment is the one that already exists. If when you need to buy something you look for it second hand, you are saving the planet the ecological footprint linked to the production of a new garment. Also, this trend is more booming than ever, there are a thousand alternatives, and you save money!
3. If you buy new, look for responsible brands.
If you can't find what you are looking for and it's time to buy something new, look for and recommend brands that are responsible for the environment in their choice of materials and production
4. If it no longer fits you, dispose of the item responsibly. Donate it or give it to recycle.
Every garment reaches the end of its useful life. When the garment is no longer useful for anything, donate it or give it to social organizations such as our Foundation so that with what we collect, we can continue offering free care to patients with cancer and other diseases
How about? Do you usually put these tips into practice?
